2005-2005: Professional Evaluation tool tested district-wide
A new professional evaluation system for teachers and student service professionals will be piloted in all DPS schools during the 2005-2006 school year. Its development was based on requests from teachers and principals to make the evaluation form and process more meaningful
The goals of the new evaluation process include producing fair and credible evaluations, communicating and upholding expectations for professional growth and providing expectations and rigor for teachers.
A new form and process were field tested by more than two dozen volunteer schools during the past school year. As a result of that field test and subsequent feedback from teachers and principals, changes were made to the process and the evaluation forms. Those new procedures will be used in this year’s pilot.

The Professional Evaluation Work Group, which is developing evaluation tools for specialists as well as teachers, is co-chaired by Beth Biggs, Southeast Area Superintendent; Anna Holm, math teacher at South High School; and Robin Kane, executive director of the Human Resources Department.
