Community Forum Examines Progress In Improving Teacher Compensation
As Denver Public Schools prepares to implement its ground-breaking new teacher compensation system, the ProComp Community Forum will hear from early leaders in the effort from 7:45 to 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at the Career Education Center Middle College of Denver, 2650 Eliot St. in northwest Denver.
After years of development, ProComp will begin operation in January if the mill levy increase is approved by voters on Nov. 1. Denver Board of Education President Les Woodward and Becky Wissink, former president of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, will discuss how the pay plan evolved from the Pay for Performance Pilot in 1999 to ProComp today. They will describe how the original plan to replace the traditional salary schedule with raises for increased student achievement developed into a comprehensive compensation system that is receiving national attention.
The program is free and the public is invited to attend. Please RSVP to Becky Martinez at beckmartinez77@aol.com or call 303-221-1421.
