Opting Into ProComp

The next ProComp opt-in window runs from January 1, 2007  to March 31, 2007. This opt-in window is for the 2007-2008 contract  year. Anyone who is considering joining ProComp during this opt-in period should call 303-423-3900.

Step 1: Obtain and Review Transcripts

Under ProComp, educators receive credit for degrees, current licenses and university credits earned since their last lane change. Educators who have earned additional credits must obtain and review their current, official transcripts to ensure they are up to date before initial salary placement in ProComp

Step 2: Run Scenarios on Personal Opt-In Salary Calculator

A new version of the opt-in calculator has been created and can be accessed online. The tool draws personal data about the educators using it and can broadly estimate earnings under ProComp based on varying factors such as earning Professional Development Units (PDUs), evaluations and more. Educators should take the time to run multiple scenarios so they understand how different opt-in years and choices can affect annual and long-term earnings in ProComp and the traditional salary schedule.

Step 3: Attend Initial Salary Placement Meeting

Once the transcript reviewer has finished assessing records, the educator will be scheduled for a face-to-face meeting with HR personnel or ProComp staff. An initial salary, based on transcript evaluation, current pay and other data, will be established at this meeting. During this meeting, teachers and student services providers will be provided with detailed information on ProComp and will have the opportunity to ask questions about how the pay system operates and how it might affect them.

Step 4: Time to Decide

After the face-to-face meeting, educators who are interested in opting into ProComp will be able to access the opt-in website to join online.  A set of easy-to-follow screens will direct them through the actual opt-in process, which is available only to educators who have participated in a face-to-face salary-setting meeting.

Opting Out Isn’t An Option

A decision to join ProComp is permanent. However, there is a 72-hour window when educators can cancel an initial decision to join ProComp if they have a change of heart. The window begins when they submit the opt-in decision and closes 72 hours later. After the 72-hour period, the decision to join is irrevocable.

ProComp is voluntary for existing educators. The current pay system will remain in effect as long as there are teachers and student services professionals who are being paid through it.
