Seven Schools, Nurses Added to Market Incentives

Seven more schools have been designated as hard-to-serve and school nurses have been added to the list of hard-to-staff positions for 2006-2007.  The additional schools are Ashley, Bryant Webster, Columbian and Montclair elementaries, Horace Mann and Rishel middle schools, and West High School

The hard-to-serve list is a “rolling” list.  Schools that are designated hard to serve stay on the list at least three years.  The list is reviewed annually; new ones are named, and some may come off.  Those that are not renewed, however, will finish their original three-year designation.  The following schools were not renewed in this year’s list and will complete their three-year designation in 2007-2008:  Castro, Garden Place, Gilpin, and Harrington, Randolph, Lake, Lincoln and North.  They may be renamed as a hard-to-serve schools if they meet the criteria in future annual reviews.  (view rolling list)

The addition of school nurses brings to six the number of positions designated as hard to staff.  English Language Acquisition – Spanish (ELA-S), middle school math, special education center assignments, speech language specialists and psychologists are also on the list for the 2006-2007 school year.

The list of eligible schools and positions is reviewed every year using specific criteria to select them.  Schools stay on the list for at least three years.  Hard-to-staff positions are designated for one year at a time, but may be renewed.  _____________________________________________________________
